LANVIN

The oldest French house in fashion, Lanvin got its start when Jeanne Lanvin opened a millinery and began making dresses for her younger sisters. She began selling her clothing in 1909, establishing herself as a couturier for both women and children before launching her menswear line in 1926. Her 18th century-inspired “robes de style” informed the “New Look” popularized by Dior. Since 2001, Lanvin has been under the creative control of Alber Elbaz. Elbaz has always had a very hands-on approach, and in 2006 he brought in the talented Lucas Ossendrijver to head the men’s wear line with much success. Ossendrijver describes the men’s wear collection as “always a bit dressed up, but not too clean and new- and with a sense of fragility.”
