DRIES VAN NOTEN

As one of the designers credited with putting Belgium at the forefront of the fashion world in the 1980s, Dries Van Noten’s aesthetic has been described by Vogue as “poetic, ethnic-eclectic.” As the son of boutique owners, Van Noten traveled with his parents on buying trips and attended the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where he honed his own design concept that has been highly celebrated. Van Noten started his women’s wear line in 1993—today you can expect ethnic prints and layered looks that pair figure-hugging fabrics with chunky sweaters and intricate jackets. In June 2008, the CFDA honored Dries Van Noten with the International Award, followed in December 2008 by the distinction of “Royal Designer for Industry” from the RSA Trustee Board in London
